What do i do if a chicago public library says a book is due but i returned it?

i returned the book called "Jude" along time ago, but i checked today and it sayd date due feb. 17 but i had checked before and it had not said anything. i returned the book! i remember not liking it and returning it. even if i did not i dont have it. not my house or my locker at school.

what do i do?What do i do if a chicago public library says a book is due but i returned it?
You should go to the library and discuss it with them. Quite often when this happens it just means that the book didn't get scanned when it was returned and got shelved without being checked in. Most libraries will not make you pay for the book right away if you tell them it was returned, especially if you have a good history with them.

They are likely to mark the book as "Claimed Returned" on their system and one of the shelvers will get to go looking for it. If you really did return it chances are it will turn up within a month or two, if it is not found on the shelf that day, and it will be checked in and your record cleared. Sometimes books can end up at the wrong branch or can go for mending and be missing for quite a while. The only problem will be if it doesn't turn up and another book you return doesn't get checked in, but that isn't very likely.

Hope that helps. Cheers.
You'll have to contact the library about it, especially if you're sure you returned it. Tell them what happened. They might have made a mistake. What do i do if a chicago public library says a book is due but i returned it?
Contact the library and clarify the situation... I'm sure it will turn up :)

Good Luck
go to the library that you returned it at, tell the librarian, see if you can find it on their shelves.

issue resolved. What do i do if a chicago public library says a book is due but i returned it?
Tell the library you returned it. If they argue and say you have to pay for it then tell them Politely that you would like them to do a physical check. They may have missed scanned it when you returned it. If you have a history of being on time or you are very polite (and i mean really) then they will usually work with you. The trick is to be polite you can always get people to help you when you are. Sorry if I stressed that too much. I am sure you are polite but librarians get a lot of defensive angry people when your issue comes up and then they will not work with them.
go to the library and find the book on the shelf. take it to the front counter and tell them you'd like to "return this book". problem solved.
Make sure someone is with you at all times. Make sure your cell phone is always on and be aware of what is going on around you. The first thing you know Homeland Security or the CIA will scoop you up and fly you to an unnamed country to a secret interrogation chamber. Like it or not, they will get the truth out of you. If you want to save yourself a world of hurt just go and pay the fine or reimburse them for the book because even if rendition does not scare you then I am sure you would like to keep your credit score in good stead...................cheers
definitely go to the library, look for the book in the isle, if you found it , show it to the desk person and your all set
