Isn't it great that Obama is spending taxpayer money to go to Copenhagen to get the 2016 Olympics in Chicago?

Now we know why...Dirty Chicago Politics.

In an uncommonly hard-hitting investigative piece, the Boston Globe’s Binyamin Appelbaum blew the whistle on the rodent-infested, sewage-clogged Chicago slums run by the Obamas’ most trusted confidante. Jarrett refused to answer any questions about Grove Parc, “citing what she called a continuing duty to Habitat’s former business partners.” A “continuing duty,” presumably, to whitewash the inconvenient truth about the failed public-private partnerships the Obamas continue to promote in the White House:

“They are rapidly displacing poor people, and these companies are profiting from this displacement,” said Matt Ginsberg-Jaeckle of Southside Together Organizing for Power, a community group that seeks to help tenants stay in the same neighborhoods.

“The same exact people who ran these places into the ground,” the private companies paid to build and manage the city’s affordable housing, “now are profiting by redeveloping them.”

In 2006, while Valerie Jarrett was executive vice president of Grove Parc’s management firm Habitat Company, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex a bottom-of-the-barrel 11 on a 100-point scale. Another Habitat-mismanaged property called Lawndale Restoration was so run-down that city officials urged the federal government to take over the complex.

Jamie Kalven, a veteran Chicago housing activist, told the Boston Globe about Barack Obama: “I hope there is not much predictive value in his history and in his involvement with that community.” Kalven’s hopes will likely be dashed. As Chicago goes, so goes the nation. Obama has made a career of rewarding failure and no amount of overhyped “Hope” will change that. He sponsored a plethora of bills in the state Senate benefitting affordable housing developers. In February 2009, he unveiled a plan to set up a $1 billion Housing Trust Fund “to rehabilitate housing in the nation’s poorest neighborhoods.” “Trust Fund?” Try slush fund, bottomless pit, and eternal stimulus for the real estate moguls posing as saviors of urban America.

In one of those endless Chicago coincidences, Grove Parc Plaza Apartments—now targeted for demolition as a result of years of neglect by Obama’s developer friends—sits in the shadows of the proposed site of the city’s 2016 Olympics Stadium. Can I pay a little more and have Obama stay there?
Nice rant.

If he is able to get the Olympics to come to Chicago, it will be worth it for the boom to the economy. There will be jobs almost right away with construction and preparation.Isn't it great that Obama is spending taxpayer money to go to Copenhagen to get the 2016 Olympics in Chicago?
You are going to criticize anything he does, so I don't care what you have to say. You have the right to say it and I have the right to ignore it.
The real crook is Mayor Daley. He is going to reap so many benefits if we get the Olympics. The Tribune likened the Olympics coming to Chicago as "sending a gift basket of Jim Beam to the Betty Ford Clinic". LOLIsn't it great that Obama is spending taxpayer money to go to Copenhagen to get the 2016 Olympics in Chicago?
Yeah, and just think of the "carbon footprint". Perfect example of his crooked, hypocritical cronyism. Can you imagine the blustering outrage if Bush had done this for Dallas?
hey he owes the Chicago Mob they need their favors...think of all the money the Mob is going to make if the Olympics come 2 Chicago..
How horrible for the economy to bring in a bunch of travelers from around the entire world.
Gee, I am sorry folks don't want the US to host the Olympics - that seems rather unpatriotic to me.
The right makes up a complaint about everything. Olympics bring money and jobs. If anything, people should praise his efforts. You guys would whine if you won the lottery.
All the evil dictators through out history are obsessed with the olympics!
Absolutely Oprah ....
Yeah, it's a good idea. The olympics are very good for business.
Yes, it is.
Bush spended taxpayer money in Bank failed Onwers .. and no one did nothing to stop him

Tell me please , what the Bush did to better the taxpayers Lives
damn. rant much?

This reminds me of the time when Bush and Cheney spent taxpayor money for misguided war efforts...OH WAIT.. WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR IT!!!!
They're starting now to do the same as China did when the olympics was there...start early getting rid of the poor people, the street people, people that are already down on the luck and "hide them away". This will give them an excuse to tear down the old buildings and move out the poor. It doesn't matter what's said, the libs are going to think this is just a great idea...it'll help the economy and make jobs. Yes, it will, for awhile, until it's over with. In the meantime, forget about all those people now that have no place to live. yup..he's doing just what China did. How proud can we be?

Besides - it wasn't just obama making the trip to Copenhagen, his wife went too. At a different time, on a different plane, so it cost the taxpayers double for these trips. But the libs don't care...as long as it's obama spending their money what's the big deal??
Already maybe you can quit the "Bama Bashing" long enough to look at this with a little bit of common sense.

Fact of the matter is the concerns you have hold true for most larger cities to some extent or another....Chicago is just under scrutiny because of people looking for any reason to discredit Obama... the election is over folks...he won...so deal with it.

Ok on to the Olympic matter. A little common sense should say that if Chicago is struggling then having the Olympics there could actually be extremely helpful in terms of providing jobs, income and opportunity.

Oh there will be people who will say that if that's the case he is favoring his city...well duh and you would do the same thing. And if you want to take that stance then you aren't allowed to complain about the condition of the city AND his way of dealing with it.
It would be the first time ever a US President was so closely involved in the selection process. I believe that he is just angling to get full credit if Chicago does get the Olympics.

Another answerer made me LMAO....saying that we would criticize Obama no matter what.....especially when I have a sneaking suspicion that that person was critical of Bush at every turn.

ALSO ACORN PERSON! BOZO'S BUDDY!

I would be more impressed if he was a commander in chief that cared about his military and took care of them. I would rather not have military in war stranded with no leadership and no one to support them and get them what they needed!

WHO DOES THAT AND IS A LEADER? WHO ABANDONS MILITARY IN TIME OF WAR TO GO TO SEE ABOUT OLYMPICS?
