Neighborhoods near Chicago's Field Museum?

I'm thinking of applying for a couple of positions at the Field Museum in Chicago. I was wondering what neighborhoods might be good to check for housing. I'll be entry-level, so affordability is a must. Also, I'd like to rely on public transportation. Any suggestions?Neighborhoods near Chicago's Field Museum?
Assuming you get the job at The Field, you might want to consider neighborhoods in the area that are affordable. The South Loop is the closest neighborhood and it is booming but not necessarily affordable. Rents for a one bdrm. average more than $1,000/mo. If that works for you, then definitely look into the South Loop because it's the perfect place to live -- close to public transport, great restaurants, safe and close to work.

If that's not an option for you, consider going a bit west to the University Village area around UIC. Also consider going south. There are some great, affordable apartments on the "near south side" around 31st street -- Prairie Shores, Lake Meadows, etc. You're about 10 minutes from downtown and it's also a safe, affordable, quiet area.Neighborhoods near Chicago's Field Museum?
You'll be working on the outskirts of downtown, try the NorthCenter, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, or Irving Park will work great. Public transportation - the el %26amp; the bus will get you to downtown in no more than 30-45 minutes tops. You're going to a great city!! Enjoy!!Neighborhoods near Chicago's Field Museum?
Nearby neighborhoods are Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, South Loop, Loop, Pilsen, Old Town and..... that should be about it. You can take a bus from all those locations. Due to the Museums location walking distance is a minimal equivalant of 5-10 blocks at the closest if you decide to walk fromt he closest neighborhood. As far as price goes anywhere close to the Museum.... GOOD LUCK! They are all pricey areas...
Well, the Field Museum is easy access by most public transportation, but the neighborhoods I'd recommend the most would be the South Loop, which extends from Congress to Cermak and the lake to Halsted, as you're by the lake, near transportation, and can walk to the Field.

The other good option would be Lakeview, up near Belmont and the lake - the 146 bus picks up there and goes straight down express to Michigan Avenue and the Field Museum. Lakeview is more affordable than the South Loop, very young and vibrant, with lots of restaurants, but your commute would be a bit longer.
