Can you get your kids taken from you if you own a pitbull?

I have an 8 month old pit bull/ Labrador puppy. Well today my daughters dad and I got into an argument and he threatened to get my little girl taken from me because I cannot afford to drive her 3 hours to see him. He doesn't pay child support, doesn't help at all with diapers, clothing, things she needs such as food, medical, etc.... I pay for it all. I work 2 jobs and just finished Medical school, not to mention I am moving back to Chicago to be able to get a better job. He doesn't help at all, and that is all I have asked him to do. He says he has some fake police report of police officers coming to my house on a regular basis. Not true, because currently I live in public housing (for 2 more weeks) and if that were to happen I would be evicted. He is also saying that if he calls the social workers on me and they see my dog they'll take her away because I am putting my daughter in danger, when in reality I am responsible with both by kid and my dog, I never leave her alone, she was also temperament tested and loves my daughter. I am just worried that he could take my child from me and I'm scared he'll try. He also is a chronic marijuana user, has no place of his own, cannot get a job because of his drug use and he robbed an elderly persons house but never went to jail for it. I just need some advice because I have been under a ton of stress.Can you get your kids taken from you if you own a pitbull?

No if the dog is a loving dog and good with the kids then he has no case on that. As long as you dont ever leave your kids alone with ANY dog whether it be a pitbull or yorkie you should be fine.Can you get your kids taken from you if you own a pitbull?
No, unless your dog was vicous and life threatening then i highly doubt your child would be taken from you! Even if it was evil, the dog would be taken away not your child :)

But for you; make sure you document everything when you are with him, or when he comes over or when you go over there. Keep your mouth shut, and do not tell him anything that is going on in your life, like family friends, etc.



He will use that information in the future against you.

I would not worry about it. It appears he is in the wrong. He just tried to scare you. The fact that you are under great stress shows his tactics worked. You should pursue the child support. Here in Texas, they can take his driver license if he is not paying up. It looks like another case of dead beat father. He should be the one worrying about laws.
