DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD ADVICE ON WHAT I SHOULD DO, IM IN A FAR SUBURB OF CHICAGO, IM 23 WITH 2 KIDS, I HAVE MY OWN CAR,AND APARTMENT, I'VE BEEN OUTTA WORK FOR A YEAR AND I STAY IN PUBLIC HOUSING, I YEARN TO GO TO COLLEGE, BUT WHEN I TRY I FAIL, DAYCARE COST MORE THAN WHAT THE STATE HELPS WITH, THE GOV. ONLY GIVES MINIMAL HELP! I WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND TRUST ME I AM FAR FROM A LAZY MINORITY WHO SITS AROUND AND COLLECTS WELFARE! I WANTED TO GO AWAY TO SCHOOL BUT THE FAMILY DORMS ARE EXPENSIVE, ANY SUGGESTIONS? ANY COLLEGES THAT HELP SINGLE MOMS, I WANT SO BADLY TO WORK AND HAVE A HOME BUT THERE ARE JUST SO MANY BARRIERS! I TRY AND ALWAYS GET KNOCKED DOWN! I WANT TO MOVE TO FL. TO GO TO SCHOOL, IVE LIVED THERE BEFORE. I HAVE NO FAMILY MY FRIENDS CANT HELP! DAYCARE IS MY ONLY OBSTACLE! UGH I JUST WANNA GIVE UP! You have to take the bull by the horns and stop making excuses. You have a car and are blessed with housing so use those tools to get what you need. I went to community college and it was cheaper and was given financial aid. I have four kids and was laid off last year. I know what it is like. I did not have a car for a while and it was hard but I stuck with it. You can get a LVN certicate from a community college which takes only a year and they make good money. Then when you get into it work a year then go back to school for whatever else you want. There are too many programs that help mothers on assistance. Get a part time job to help with daycare. Also finanical aid gives you a housing allowance which you can use to pay bills and even on your daycare. You can email me for more information I will gladly help you.

Online colleges would be a good idea, because you can stay home. Maybe going to a church or something would help you. I've found that there are people there who are always willing to help out.

You should try looking into online colleges. That way you can stay home with your kids and still get your degree.

This is how you receive government grants and loans. You may receive money for education that you never thought possible. The form is a pain to complete, but its worth the time. I completed my degree as an adult, and I didn't need any aid - just one simple loan, but I started receiving a grant from the state (VA) for $100 per hour. Totally unexpected.



What ever you do, don't give up. Yes it is hard, especially for a single mom with two young kids, but you obviously have the desire to better yourself, and as long as you keep trying you will find a way.

Ur thining as it shows in ur mail is a bit selffish......from the time you become a parent you stop thinking what U want its all about the well being of ur kids so I think you should focuss on them whats good for them if you let them they will give you so much LOVE cause Work wont ever give you what your own flesh and blood will .......You still can broaden ur mind but not through study but by living ur life right here right now and stop worrying about ur future WHY the hurry you will never be too old to study arent we all life time learners but dont miss out on the JOY of ur childen they will make all wrong RIGHT if you let them its your choice chose for THEM
Yes Hello: I am a single mom of 3 i live as some would say not a good side of the city. All kinds of drugs around me and the addicts and the alckys the works smile. I been there with that feelingyou have i worked pt for years to support mine and i know it is hard did the sec 8 thing aactually messed that up not intentionally really! I know! But I did moved from house to house in 16yrs my son is now 16. Am I happy yes that i did the best i could for mine at the time. But you can go to school I just started a online class REALLY! its great I got helpthru the schools you apply for look online at different schoold they help with all the other stuff you should have no problem getting in. I was granted 5,500 in a pell grant and another 7,000 finacial aid girl thats 12,000 for my start! You can go to school! And there is hope out there i am doing it you can too! You are the only barrier push for what you want like you are now and you will get. Hit me up if you want more info! Oh and i live in CT and the school i am going to is in Fl so you can do it!
