If you like knights, castles, magic etc. then Oblivion is an excellent choice. There are a billion things to do and it lasts for months.
If you are more into sci-fi and futuristic guns, Mass Effect is awesome. It has great graphics and intense missions. Its possible my favorite game with the deepest plot i have ever seen. Be prepared for a lot of dialouge, though.

Oblivion is basically a medieviel game. It has got a bit of violence, but not a lot. Its not just sword u fight with u also use magic. Lost Odyssey is pretty good. It is from 3 of the guys that used to work on the Final Fantasy series, so you'll see a lot of FF elements, probably way too much.
Blue Dragon is good for a light RPG game.|||If you wanted a REAL RPG then I'd say either Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey.
