Still think Obama respects Hunting and Hunters?

Obama has appointed to the head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, an agency that can have a direct impact on the rules and regulations that cover hunting on public land across the country, a law school professor from Chicago named Cass Sunstein.

Among other legal positions Mr. Sunstein holds, he wrote a book in 2004 called "Animal Rights: Current Controversies and New Directions" which has become a legal guide to the so-called 'animal rights' movement.

In a 2007 speech at Harvard, he called for the outright banning of hunting. He has stated many times that the law should respect the rights of animals, even to the point of allowing lawsuits to be brought on behalf of hunted and farmed animals against those who would deny them the right to life.

On hunting and ranching of animals, he stated they were "morally akin to slavery and the mass extermination of human beings".

Yep, looks like Obama continues to be on our side guys, respecting our traditions and heritage by appointing a world-class nut job animal rights activist to the job that makes policy about public land use.

added: which is pretty funny how liberals think the 2nd is about hunting and nothing else.

|||I think that is the same guy who claims that animals have emotional feelings. How can anybody in their right mind come up with the ideas and antics they produce. If the average man or woman was to make these claims they would be labled as a lunatic. But when red blooded americans claim they have a right to protect themselves, and to keep hold on their firearms beurocrats claim thats where the lunacy lies. And people wonder why this country is going to hell with a quickness.

I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything away from you.|||* Yes, he truly is a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.* I regret having placed my Trust, Respect and Confidence in him. However I was not the only one who was deceived.* I Love my Country; but i despise what my Country has become.*.. Do not allow yourselves to be persuaded by Corrupt, Deceptive, Anti-Gun, Anti- Constitutional Politicians who threaten the 2nd Amendment and Americans Rights, Freedoms, and Liberty's.* " Try Living Free in America without Your Guns and Your Ammo; I Dare You."... ' Only a Criminal, Tyrant, or a Tyrannical Government is Afraid of the Armed American Citizen."...|||I don't think Obama gives a rats butt about us and it is about time that dca finally admitted he was wrong.....congrats on asking a question that got dca to admit|||Obama sure does seem like he is against hunters or just plain dum. I really don't think he gives it much thought....when picking people for various positions politically. Whether or not he is pro or anti hunting....any move to ban hunting will be hell to pay politically. Can you say 1994? If he bans hunting ....his chance of re-election would surely be damaged. Hell, anyone could beat him. There are lots of people who support hunting than the Chicago/Hawaii man may think..........|||Obamas ratings when he was elected.

Obamas ratings now.|||Animals and people cannot be compared. Animals don't have rights like we do.

I'm all for good treatment of animals, but referring to them as slaves, etc disgusts me.|||He never respected us it was all lip service. This guy will be apporved. Just like obama's "science czar" that think the .gov ought to put infertility drugs in our drinking water for population control. If he wants hunting banned he can and will try, its just a matter of when.

obama and his merry buch hate us. They hate everything they stand for. I would not be surprised if the all secretly desired to publicly execture every single one of us. All 80 million of us. That's what they really want. To use the force of the state to kill us all. That is the liberal mindset. Deep down to kill EVERYONE who disagrees with their policies. But they can't get away with it... yet.|||Not me Dude. I don't trust him as far as I can throw a pickup truck.

But I'm one of those who sticks to my guns and religion.|||Now I understand why Shakespeare wrote "First thing let's do, is kill all the lawyers." (Or was it Gilbert and Sullivan? Great sentiment, either way.)|||I never thought Obama ever respected hunters and hunting. I started stock piling ammo when he was elected just like so many others.|||I believe animals have rights although i do not believe hunting is immoral i believe beating an animal is wrong but believe owning a pet is responsibility that should be taken seriously as for sport hunting i believe that as long as the hunter is ethical and puts the meat to a good use like the hunters for the hungry program as a hunter i am proud to say the animals i harvest are enjoyed at the table as well as on the wall

p.s. how come the extreme left are brave enough to kill unborn children but not brave enough to kill the enemy

p.s.s. How come all the really stupid members of congress are from california|||Wow, who would have "thunk" it, an ultra left wing liberal kook appoints other ultra left wing liberal kooks...Shocker

Obama's approval ratings released today(8/6/09) by several polls were at 50% - 5 points lower than GW Bush at the same time(8/01)

The difference is Bush's poll numbers were not falling like a rock. Obama has lost 7 points in one month and the tide of discontent with his polices is rising quickly(he lost 5 points this past week).

Obama's personal approval rating is far above the approval rating for his polices.|||I also hate to say "I TOLD YOU SO" but c'mon..... He was from Illinois. Aside from the '90-93 and '95-97 Bulls, what good has EVER come from that state.|||No.

He and Congress would strip us of our gun rights in half a heartbeat if they knew it wouldn't cost them their jobs.|||Animal farm is here! Who is going to be the new Gun Czar comrades? I vote DJ, at least I think we can trust him to defend the Constitution.

Better go ask your local block leader, or food czar if it is ok to eat that venison you got; you may have violated it's rights.

Some animals are more equal than others, and looks like 4 legged kind are more important to this admin than God given Human Rights.

OOPS! Gotta go, have an appointment at my re-education camp. I got flagged for being an Amerikan.

Brave new world...yikes.|||I appreciate the info. In my estimation the only hunters Obama is interested in are those hunting the green stuff in our wallets|||Animal rights extremism already is mainstream lol.

It cracks me up, people who are disgusted by hunters, disagree with people feeding their snakes rodents, or cry when they hit a birdy with their car...

Unless you are hardcore a vegan (and if you do, props to you), you really can't say ****. Licensed hunters humanely (to the best of their ability) kill off excess animals during specified hunting seasons... While the concentration camps... er, I mean food factories raise animals in inhumane environments, pumping them with antibiotics, breeding antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and then slaughter them brutally.. So why don't they go after them? Why do they go after the hunters?

Well, of course, they HAVE went after them... but the fact of the matter is, they control money and political power. Average Joe hunters, do not.

They can't win the war with the country that is business, so they bomb the orphanage that is the hunter...|||Hey, kiddies, one more time and take it to heart. EVERY RECENT PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, HAS BEEN FOR GUN CONTROL. Even Bushes 1 and 2, even Reagan. Check it out. Bush, thankfully, let the Assault Weapons Ban expire, but during his 2000 campaign, he promised to renew it if it hit his desk.

I voted for Barack Obama and still support him. McCain/Palin is just too horrible to imagine. Well, at least Palin. Does that mean I agree with everything he's done or wants to do? No. Do I agree with a lot of the things he wants to do? You bet. Just not when it comes to guns.

I had no illusions about the President's attitudes on gun control; he comes from Chicago, land of some of the most irrational gun laws in the country. He went to law school in Massachusetts, another bastion of Second Amendment rights. I was under no illusions that Obama was a closet member of the NRA or that Wayne LaPierre would soon receive a cabinet post.

OTOH, I did know the anti-gun crowd would face a challenge in this session of Congress because everybody overlooked the fact that Southern Democrats are more conservative than most people outside the South realize. And, when it came time to stand up for gun owners, they did. Why do you think the Assault Weapons Ban hasn't been passed into law already? The honchos at the DNC figured it would be a slam-dunk. But those Democrats told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi it wouldn't pass because there were enough Republicans and Democrats to stop it.

Our government has three branches, though the experience of the eight years prior to Obama's inauguration might lead one to think otherwise. This is part of the checks and balances system devised by our forefathers.

So whether you like Obama or think he's as bad as Curious George and Darth Cheney were, you should contact your Senator and let them know you are concerned about the qualifications (and sanity) of Cass Sunstein and urge them to vote against the confirmation.

BTW #1: As of today's Gallup polls, Obama's approval ratings (56%) are about the same as GWB's were in August 2001.

BTW #2: To my way of thinking the AWB was also about hunting; as in what types of firearms could be used.
