My neighbor is a jack*ss and insists that all the animals that live near the house, which is across the street from a forest preserve, ONLY come on to the property because of my feeder. The feeder that has been up since January 7th.
"The feeder attracts skunks."
Oh... So you mean the 2 skunks that come by the house every 2 weeks and wake me up when they pass under my bedroom window predicted a year and a half ago that I'd put a feeder out?
8 raccoons, 2 opossums, 1 rabbit, 1 fox, a small herd of deer, 5 squirrels, a mated pair of cardinals, 1 bluejay, 4 woodpeckers, snakes, %26amp; 2 skunks that wake me up with their smell every 2 weeks from spring to fall are psychic %26amp; hung out here because of my feeder? Well I'll be damned.
So anyways... We were told we needed to take them down after dark yesterday. That involves a screwdriver and I didn't want to do it in the dark so I just went out there with a broom and shovel and cleaned up the shells and bits of corn that were on the ground. I could easily do this in the dark.
I wake up this morning and look out my window at 7:00am and both the suet feeder, that has been out there mess free for going on a year now, and my squirrel feeder are missing.
There is only one reason it would be missing, the jack*ss took it all down and threw it out.
The details of this are:
1. He is a tenant. He does not own the building. He lives here just like we do. He claims the landlord wanted it removed but we didn't have a chance to speak to him yet.
2. He has a history of just throwing out anything he doesn't like when you don't ask HIS permission to put it out. He killed my flowers last summer when I replaced the dying flowers in the box by the front door.
3. The tree it was on is City of Chicago Property. It is on the other side of the sidewalk from the house so it is Public Property, not part of the property the house is on. He TREATS it like it is building property, but he works for the city and damn well knows better.
If he stole my property, I want to bill him for:
1. The squirrel feeder itself: $20.00
2. The feed in it: $5.00.
3. The Suet Feeder: $5.00.
4. The Suet: $3.00.
He had no right to touch my stuff when we just hadn't had the chance to remove it ourselves yet.
Can I bill him for the theft of property?|||You do not own that property, which means you have no rights pertaining to persona property you placed there. It was placed "at your own risk". You risked, and you lost.|||Without proof that he took it there is nothing you can do so save your breath, grin and bear it!|||No, but you can go call him a tool. That sounds equally rewarding.|||you should talk to the owner, and find out what is going on. (What a jerk)|||no|||Did you have written authority to put the feeders where you did?
There are only two kinds of things in this world: the handful of things that legitimately belong to you, and the billions of billions of things that belong to someone else.....and you don't mess with things that belong to someone else. Communal living requires consideration of others.....and since that is a thing of the past in this age of low-lifes, rules and rules and laws and laws. From what I can tell you violated them.........if you don't like them, move somewhere else. Others might have been smart enough to check the rules before they moved there......and don't want to look at your non-compliance, filth and rabid vermin.|||once you put something on city property it is no longer yours - sorry - it becomes property of the city
the nasty neighbor or any other city worker can remove it at will - you say hes an employee of the city so he is just cleaning up his city - job security
you say your neighbor - does he live in a separate house just next to yours? - we don't care if you both rent, that has nothing to do with it - or are you in the same house different units?
separate house - here is a solution for you
place a stick in your own yard with the feeders on it - or place it on the pillar of your own porch
same house - call the landlord and complain, only option|||you need to find out if it was him that took it down.
If he took it down he might have kept them. Are you willing to go and ask him if he kept them or threw them out?
The problem is he can deny taking them down so even though i think you are rightfully entitled to your money/ property, he will probably deny everything. You need proof! Good luck!
