Do most people really feel like this?
I was just watching a documentary called "black picket fence" about a few people growing up in Brooklyn's housing projects and it really makes me sick that people just shrug it off as, and i quote "typical black gangsters blaming their problems on racism in the system". Do most people really feel that way? I mean don't get me wrong, yes, if you want to get out of something you need to work at it, but without resources, YES it is much harder. I live near Chicago and have seen every single bad area of Chicago, these people have nothing to help them out, imagine living somewhere where you have no banks, no grocery stores other then a corner store, no real job opportunities, and horrible public schooling, and most of these people cannot afford a car to drive to any thing they need. That is how 99% of these "bad" neighborhoods are. Now, with all the recent violence in Chicago I know people are feeling pessimistic about these areas, but man, it really makes me sick how people view these people that live in these areas, I can bet 99% of the people have grown up all their lives in poverty and see no way out, the government isn't helping them, you can argue getting food stamps and free housing all you want, but that "free" housing isn't safe or clean enough for a rat to live in, let alone people. Anyways, more a rant then a question, but feel free to comment back. BTW - I am white, so this isn't a biased rant or anything like that, I have to say I have lead a pretty "privileged" life, I lived in a nice neighborhood, went to a nice school and was able to go to college, I didn't have everthing I wanted growing up, but I had enough. I just cannot even start to imagine how hard it is to live without basic necessities that we take for granted daily.|||some blk people need to chill because they're also racist themsleves|||Unfortunately we do live in a country where people look down on those less fortunate. Its not always the persons fault for being in a bad situation although sometimes it is. Many people who live in poverty do work extremely hard to get out of their situations yet rich society have written them off. This is a sad reality. Tupac said it "everyone poor should change places with the rich" in vice versa. I betcha the world would change. Think about what rent cost today even for public or section 8 low income places. Say you pay $500 monthly for rent, $150 for gas and electric/telephone/cable/internet, and have a monthly car note of $100 + registration %26amp; insurance %26amp; gas %26amp; maintenance + you have kids and have to buy groceries, clothes, shoes and other necessarys in life. Now say you work making 1,200 per month. Is that enough? No. And say you work two jobs then your kids loose out on having a parent there and goodness knows what kind of trouble kids get into. Then imagine selling drugs on the street and making $200 a day. Whats wrong with this picture? I never understood why a country with so much, offers so little. Its like it was designed so people can fail. Either be rich or fail is what it feels like to me. College tuition is like the same as buying a house. It's ridiculous but w/o an education you probably wont ever have a house and you wonder why people strive so hard to be the next lil wayne---because I can either do well in life and barely be making it alright, or I can be rich and put my entire family on for life. Everything is backwards.
