Are Texans getting smarter?

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) was interrupted by protesters Thursday at a speech at Rice University in Houston.





"Eric Cantor is not welcome here," chanted protesters for about three minutes before his speech began, reports The Hill.





Cantor brushed off the interruption. "You gotta say, only in America," he said.





Cantor has drawn protesters at recent university appearances. At the University of Michigan on Oct. 31, a crowd of protesters gathered outside with signs like "RIP Middle Class." An Oct. 28 speech at Northwestern University drew about 75 members of Occupy Chicago.





Cantor cancelled a speech on income inequality at the University of Pennsylvania in October after his office learned that the event would be open to the public. The university said that such events were typically open to the public and regretted any misunderstanding.





Cantor drew controversy over his remarks on Occupy Wall Street last month. At the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C. he said, "If you read the newspapers today, I, for one, am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country," he said. He later said protesters were "justifiably frustrated" with the economy.





Personal note: I find it revealing that Cantor will not speak at events that are open to the public.|||What you witnessed was a MINORITY of Texans. Their present Governor would point to a different conclusion.|||We Texans are smart . That's why we have a great economy when the rest of America struggles.





We are a conservative, smart, industrial state that believes in its people.


We are a right to work state and unions can't crush us.|||Questionable.
